Traders and consumers of chicken in the West Region have challenged authorities by not respecting the ban on the sale of chicken because of the avian influenza epidemic. According to Le Jour newspaper of November 16, 2016, chicken is back on tables of the population of Bafoussam, chief town of the West Region.
