Unrest in Bamenda: John Fru Ndi Cheats Death, Home Tear gassed

The unrest that took place in Bamenda for 3 days did not spare even the National Chairman of the main opposition party Social Democratic Font (SDF). His home was attacked with tear gas by forces of law and order who were struggling to disperse the angry youths that mounted road blocks around that section of the town, “Ntarinkon”. According to a witness at the scene, a huge crowd gathered at a bar situated directly in front of the gate of the SDF national chairman call “Chairman’s Pork” drinking and waiting for the match between the indomitable lionesses and South Africa.  “We were just seated here drinking and waiting for the match when we saw 2 forces of law and order (a police officer and a Gendarmerie officer with tear gases with them suddenly, the police officer attempted shooting the tear gas at us but I ran to him and pleaded that we were peaceful and just wanted to have a drink.
I even made the police officer to know that it was the residence of the SDF national chairman but he was adamant and went further to shoot the tear gas at us” a victim narrated. Unfortunately out of the 5 tear gases that were shot, 2 were shot directly in front of the gate of Ni John Fru and the gas spread throughout the whole place provoking the national Chairman who was just from granting an interview to reporters and the state media to rush out following the yells from outside. His body guard and his son Bern Fru Ndi tried to chase the police officers but to no avail. “Daddy they shot at me, I tried to follow them but they shot at me.
