Prison centrale de Kondengui : Des détenus anglophones dans la révolte après avoir subi des tortures inhumaines

Des détenus anglophones de la prison à sécurité maximale de Kondengui ont organisé mardi matin une protestation contre les autorités carcérales pour avoir torturé des détenus anglophones.

L'avocat Felix Agbor Balla, a rapporté que les détenus se sont déchaînés mardi matin après que 18 anglophones transférés à la prison de Kondengui aient été sévèrement torturés par les gardiens de prison.

Les 18 détenus actuellement détenus au "Kosovo", une section de la prison de haute sécurité de Kondengui, auraient été enfermés dans des chaînes serrées et torturés mardi soir par des gardiens de prison qui les ont appelés à plusieurs reprises Ambazoniens, a déclaré l'avocat Agbor Balla.

Selon notre source, 14 des détenus ont été amenés de la prison centrale de Buea et les quatre autres, du quartier général de la Gendarmerie (SED) à Yaoundé.

TCR a appris de l'avocat vénéré que l'un des détenus soignait une plaie en décomposition, et qu'un autre se battait avec un bras cassé.

Aussi exigent-ils du gouvernement camerounais comme garantie d’un retour au Southern Cameroon de déclarer la fin de la guerre qu’il a engagé contre le peuple du Southern Cameroon, de démilitariser le Southern Cameroon, d’engager des négociations en vue de la fin des conflits en présence de l’Union africaine, des Nations Unies et d’autres parties sur un territoire neutre, d’accorder l’amnistie à tous les exilés.

Oil Tanker Explosion Kills 9 Persons

An oil tanker exploded during rush hour traffic Thursday, setting cars ablaze and killing at least nine people and injuring at least five, officials said.

The tanker crashed into a passenger car and caught fire on a busy bridge about 5 p.m. on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway, a route used by commuters living on the outskirts of the city. The death toll was expected to rise, as 54 vehicles were burned, a government official told CNN.

Response teams were trying to rescue people trapped in the fires. "We are still battling this fire, and rescue teams are trying to access the bridge. Many people are trapped in the fire as we speak," Adesina Tiamiyu, who heads the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, told CNN.

Oludare Adodo said he was crossing the bridge on a commercial bus when its driver suddenly stopped and told passengers there had been an accident involving a toppled tanker.

"Petrol started leaking. A bus ran into it. The fire hadn't started then a car ran into the bus which caused the fuel to ignite. Suddenly I heard a loud 'blam!' " he said.

The reputation of the diplomatic representation of Cameroon in Canada is dented by a passport theft scandal. According to Brother Jean-Marc Soboth, an investigative journalist, no less than three Canadian passports sent for a Cameroonian visa have recently disappeared once deposited by 'Canada Post' at 170 Clemow Ave, Ottawa...

The tracking mechanism Canada Post has, been able to determine that the passports were received at the diplomatic mission by a staff of the embassy named Raissa T, reports said.

TCR however gathered that officials of the High Commission have unanimously refuted claims that there is a staff that bears the name Raissa T. at the Cameroonian diplomatic mission to Canada.

After Clashes between Suspected Ambazonia Fighters, Gendarmes: Speeding Pickup Vehicle of Gendarmes Kills Bike Rider in Kumba

The incident occurred on Monday, June 25 at a locality called “Fiango market”.

Reports from Kumba, chief town of Meme division in the Southwest region of Cameroon say that at least one person has been killed by a pickup belonging to the National Gendarmerie in Kumba. According to information gathered from eyewitnesses on the spot, the said truck hit a motorcycle driver on his motorbike on its way to a base to transport elements solicited somewhere for reinforcement.

Our correspondent in Kumba said that the incident happened not far from one of the biggest markets of the city, the “Fiango market”.

We also gathered that a few hours earlier, unidentified gunmen invaded a commercial area and chased traders as well as seized motorbikes from riders on grounds that it was ghost town.

West Region: 3 Siblings Die after Eating Poisoned Rice, About 17 Others Admitted in Hospital

It was at about 8pm on Thursday, June 21, 2018, that a distress family arrived at the premises of the Foumban District Hospital in tears.  The women, most of them holding babies and children in their arms looked totally depressed and physically worn out after a shocking incident hit their family. According to sources, some kids of that family had consumed rice that was cooked by one of the wives of that polygamous home. On the spot, were a total of about twenty children that had been admitted in the pediatric ward of the said hospital. Despite placing the 20 children under intensive care, three of them still gave up the ghost. The names of the deceased are Ousnim 1 year, Naima 4 years and Charifa 6 years. TCR gathered that all three children are of the same mother who reportedly prepared rice for their father, her husband.

The children died on Friday June 22, 2018 at about 7am, not long after they were rushed to hospital. The mother of the children, who could not bear the mishap, fainted at the hospital.

Several inhabitants of Foumban stormed the hospital to witness the tragedy that according to popular opinion was rare to come by. The three victims were reportedly buried in their family compound in Koupa Kagnam village on Friday, June 22, 2018 in a very emotional atmosphere.

TCR gathered that one of the wives of the polygamous family prepared rice on Thursday June 21, 2018, and then left for shopping. Taking advantage of her absence, someone entered her room and dropped poison inside the food that was cooked for her husband. And instead of serving the food for her husband as initially intended, the lady then gave the food to her children because she had received information that her husband was not going to return home that evening. So, 1 year old boy Ousnim, Naïma 4 year old and Charifa 6 years old, all ate the food alongside the children of the other wives as well as those of their relatives that were on holiday.

Anglophone Crisis: Total Panic in Babadjou after Attack of Gendarmerie Brigade by Ambazonia Fighters

Camerounweb has reported that a new attack by Anglophone separatist fighters has been recorded in the West region of Cameroon.

According to sources, the gendarmerie brigade of Babadjou in Bamboutos division of the West region was attacked Wednesday by individuals whom the online publication said claimed to be armed separatists.

Our source also reported that the Divisional Officer of Mbouda, Edward Egbe, said that the assailants had stormed the gendarmerie brigade of Babadjou in order to release one of theirs who is currently detained.

The civil administrator added that gendarmes on duty were surprised by the assault by the suspected armed separatists even though no life was lost, he said.

Cameroonian Soldier Kills Himself in B.I.R. Camp

According to credible sources, a Cameroonian soldier has shot himself dead at a B.I.R. camp in Salak, Maroua in the Far North region of Cameroon.

Corporal Awalou Zanmine, committed suicide on Wednesday, June 27, as he fired a bullet to his head. TCR gathered that he used his colleague’s gun to shoot himself.

Sources close to the deceased said that he suffered from psychological disorders. This had already caused him to try to end his life a few weeks earlier as he attempted to cut open his throat with the use of a knife but did not succeed thanks to the intervention of someone.

So, last Wednesday, Awalou Zanmine took advantage of a moment of lack of concentration on him from his friends to pick up a gun and fire a shot at himself.

Bui SDO Issues Ultimatum to Bike Riders

The Senior Divisional Officer for Bui division in the Northwest region, Simon Emile Mooh, has released a statement in which he calls on motorbike owners to regularize their situation within two weeks.

According to this statement dated June 26, the administrative measure was in line with requirements made by the Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji.

According to the Bui prefect, after this deadline, a repressive phase shall be initiated throughout the division.

Anglophone Crisis: Some Security and Defence Forces in Big Trouble for Torturing Civilians

Journalducameroun.com has reported that some members of the Cameroon military are currently in trouble following accusations of committing and filming violence against civilians.

Even though our source reported that no official communication has been made by government about this legal action against the accused military staff, it said that the accused were being held at the Yaoundé military prison for failing to respect instructions related to their professions.

According to journlducameroun.com, the accused are mostly gendarmes that forced and filmed two women from the English-speaking area to drag themselves in mud. The video made rounds on social networks and attracted severe opprobrium.

In reaction to this mess, the national gendarmerie prohibited its elements from the use of smartphones during field operations.

2018 FIFA World Cup: CRTV Clears the Air amidst Accusations of Image Theft

During the opening ceremony of the ongoing 2018 Russia World Cup Cameroonians watching through Cameroon Radio and Televison Broadcasting Corporation CRTV, were stunned when the channel went blank all of a sudden, while other international channels were doing a full live coverage of the event.

It was later discovered that CRTV did not acquire the broadcasting license from KFS (Kwesé Free Sports), the accredited supplier with exclusive rights to broadcast the FIFA World Cup in Africa, and that CRTV was using the images fraudulently.
They were accused by KFS who reported them to FIFA, for stealing images.

It is in this light that Robert Ekukole, staff man and number one Technical Adviser of the National station came out Tuesday June 26, to explain to the public what actually happened.

Mr. Ekukole explained that procedures for obtaining broadcasting rights for this year's edition of the world cup competition were quite different from those of the previous years. 

“We acquired the broadcasting rights exclusively from an open source. On June 15, 2017 we signed a contract with the company that had exclusive broadcasting rights for Sub-Saharan Africa; Econet Media, a South African company based in the Mauritius Island. According to the contract, CRTV was to share this session with a maximum of two other operators in the Cameroonian territory. This contract was signed one year ago. We acquired the rights, and CRTV had since paid for it”. Mr. Ekukole said.

Suspected Ambazonia Commander Killed in Fighting in Belo

A man reported to be the commander of a unit of Ambazonia fighters in Belo area, has been killed alongside some fighters in a standoff between the military and Ambazonia fighters.

According to sources, the bloody confrontation that claimed the life of Terence, took place on Tuesday and lasted for several hours.

 During the fierce fighting, Terence whom reports said is widely known in the community and the bother to the proverbial Sam Soya who also lost his life in the ongoing crisis, lost his life, a French language online newspaper (CIN) reported.

According to our source, he was found lying some 100 meters from the Mbingo Baptist hospital.

Even though TCR cannot independently authenticate this, there are reports that the defence forces also killed about half a dozen Ambazonia fighters in Belo during the showdown.

Albeit the paper was not precise about the casualties on the side of the military, it however alleged that there were also casualties within their ranks.

Civilians were also caught in the crossfire as the Fundong Grand Stand and a popular Snack bar, “Jarco Décor”, were set on fire.

Ambazonia Fighters are Worse than Boko Haram-Atanga Nji Paul

Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji, has said that some youths from the North West and South West regions killing security forces in ongoing Anglophone crisis are “Terrorists, flesh eaters which makes them worse than Boko Haram,” he said.

Paul Atanga Nji unleashed the salvo against Ambazonia fighters on Monday June 25, 2018 while being interviewed by CRTV’s Aime Robert Bihina, on one of CRTV’s flagship program, Presidence Actu aired on state television.

According to the intrepid Paul Atanga Nji, he had seen images on social media in which Ambazonia fighters butchered a human being, cooked and were eating, concluding that their acts were worse than what Boko Harm is doing in the Far North region.

Because of this, he said the fighters will be more than wanted by the regime and that the government was going to crush them soon, he assured.

Anglophone Crisis: Francophone Politician Narrowly Escapes Death in Batibo, Narrates His Shocking Experience

A popular francophone politician called Cabral Libii, has announced that he narrowly escaped death in Batibo, one of the flashpoints of fighting between Ambazonia fighters and security and defence forces.

Returning from this locality last Saturday, the candidate of the party “Universe” and his companions came across fighting between separatists and the Cameroonian army.

According to Cabral Libii, he has never experienced such a stressful situation.

In a message he himself posted on his Facebook page, and fed on by several media including Le Quotidien de l'Economie of Monday, June 25, 2018, Cabral Libii narrated his shocking experience and misadventure.

 “Glory to God! I have just entered Bamenda on return from Batibo. The compatriot, who was driving us, native of the locality, had to make use of a road in the forest on our way back. We had to take refuge with other compatriots in the house, with all doors closed. I admit, I had never experienced such a stressful situation.

Families Mourn in Kumbo after Road Accident between Military Truck, Motorbike Kills 7

There are reports of a very fatal road accident involving a truck of the Cameroonian army and a motorbike that was transporting three persons.

According to sources, the tragedy occurred on the morning of Monday June 25, 2018 along the Nkambe-Kumbo highway, two towns in the troubled Northwest region.

A source indicated that the accident happened precisely at a place called Sop, on the outskirts of Kumbo, Bui division.

According to eyewitnesses, the gendarmerie truck that was transporting members of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) rushing to Bamenda for reinforcement mission, violently hit a motorbike that was carrying three persons.

We learnt that all the three occupants of the motorbike died on the spot as against four of the men in uniform.

The National President of the prime opposition political party in Cameroon, Ni John Fru Ndi, has overtly declared that the flag bearer of his party in the upcoming presidential elections enjoys the freehand to choose the political party he wants to work with during the contention for the presidency of the nation.

Anglophone Crisis: Student Killed on Chaotic Friday in Bamenda

TCR has learnt that an upper sixth student of St. Paul’s College Nkwen, was killed on the chaotic Friday of June 22, 2018 in Bamenda, capital city of the Northwest region.

The jinxed guy was identified as Michael popularly called Hazard. According to our source, Michael was nicknamed Hazard because of his unrivaled skills in the game of football.

Even though TCR cannot independently and authoritatively say who the killers of Michael are, there are allegations that he was killed by gendarmes in Nkwen.

Eyewitness accounts said that when Bamenda was thrown into commotion because of the activities of Ambazonia fighters that raided the town last Friday evening, a special security measure was put in place.

Michael, like many other locals, boarded a taxi but fell in the hands of the Gendarmes around Nkwen who told the driver to stop but he didn’t respect the order, seeing this danger and knowing how Military behaves, some passengers forced the driver to stop before running for safety.

According to locals, Gendarmes then opened fire on the vehicle killing the driver, commonly called “papa Abigail”, father of three children, he died at the hospital from bullet wounds, Cameroon Info Net reported.

Garoua-Cameroon: Family of 8 Dies as Fire Consumes House

8 persons have lost their lives in a fire accident at a place called Petit Paris in Garoua, chief town of the North region of Cameroon, TCR has gathered from credible sources.

The eight victims included 5 children and three adults.

The fire that originated from a private residence led to the instantaneous deaths of the eight persons on Monday June 25, 2018.

According to reports, the children had returned to the city just a day before the tragedy occurred.

According to state radio that reported the story on Monday, the fire started in the very early hours of the day and took the occupants of the house where it originated and their neighbours by surprise.

According to reports, because of the intensity of the flames, nothing could be done to save victims of the inferno. Even elements of the firefighters’ unit that stormed the scene in posthaste could not salvage the situation as everyone watched the fire reduce the victims to ashes.

East Region: Two Identified Persons Steal Minister’s Handbag in Dimako

Reports from Dimako in the East region of Cameroon say that two people have stolen the handbag of a government minister.

Clémentine Ananga Messina, was robbed last Saturday in Dimako, in the East region of Cameroon. The Minister Delegate to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development was attending the funeral of Mongui Sossomba, President of the Chamber of Agriculture and influential member of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Party (CPDM), when she became a victim of thievery.

According to a French language daily newspaper called Le Jour, of June 26, the Minister's handbag was forgotten in the car. After she realised that she had forgotten the handbag in her car, she then asked her bodyguard to get it for her.
