Clinton Risks Heavy Sanction from FECAFOOT

TCR has learnt from credible sources that one of Cameroon’s cutting edge attackers. Clinton Njie, risks heavy suspension from the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).
According to our sources, the Indomitable Lions’ striker is accused of indecent behavior at the last camping of the national team in France during the friendly against Burkina Faso.
The African champion present as the rest of the national team in France for the friendly match against Burkina-Faso, is accused of arriving 24 hours late at the camping ground (May 25 instead of 24). However, the finalist of the last UEFA Cup did not only stop at this fault.
Considering the request for explanation served by the body that runs the Cameroonian football, the player "according to a statement from the hotel, brought in two girls to his hotel room and that they were evicted from the room because of induced nuisances,” the anonymous hotel official reported.

President Biya Orders Resumption of Suspended Cameroon’s Professional Leagues

Cameroon's head of state, Paul Biya, and his Prime Minister, Philemon Yang, have called for "the immediate resumption of professional football competitions," whose suspension was announced Thursday night by the Cameroon Professional Football League (LFPC) for lack of financial means ".
According to APA, a statement issued by the Cameroon Professional Football League, said that the return to normalcy comes after this return to normal comes a 45 million FCFA advance of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), 15 in cash and the rest by bank transfer.
Thus, the 30th and 25th days of D1 and D2, initially scheduled on July 10, 2018 respectively, have been reprogrammed for the same dates and venues.
Our source however reported that behind the brief suspension of these competitions, hides a crisis between the Cameroon Professional Football League (LFPC) and FECAFOOT, following the retention by the FECAFOOT and without explanation, a good deal of the federal subsidy for the running of the national championships, i.e. 255 million FCFA out of a total envelope of 410 million FCFA.

Anglophone Crisis: Cameroonian Football Icon Issues Strong Warning to UN

One of Cameroon’s most respected football icons, Joseph Antoine Bell, has once again made known certain opinions of his’, concerning the ongoing crisis in the two English speaking regions of Cameroon.
According to Joseph Antoine Bell, the UN must refrain from intervening in issues of Cameroon if it is not invited by the authorities of this country.
He was speaking during a program on a Yaoundé based television channel, Vision 4, and in reaction to speculations that the international organization may intervene in the crisis. He aired his opinion on July 1, 2018.
“I do not believe that Cameroon needs intervention. If that were the case, Cameroon would ask for it by itself. The UN does not often intervene like that on its own,” he said.
The former captain of Olympique de Marseille maintained that his stance was inspired by examples of situations he lived while living in Europe. He cited the examples of the wars of the United Kingdom against the separatists of Siin Féin, the Spain ETA conflict, and few others, which caused many deaths but according to him, did not trigger much international emotion.
He added that he did not remember seeing any UN Peace Keeping force pass in front of his door to intervene in the conflict.
Relying on other examples around the world, Joseph Antoine Bell predicts a new failure of secessionist ambition. “You have to put the problem on the table. If it is clear that this is secession, I do not know many states that have accepted secession and I do not know many countries that have proclaimed that they support secessionists. In Spain, we saw the activities of Catalan secessionists and how they ended. Everyone realised that in the Catalans’ situation, it was really about democracy. Secessionists used democracy to try to separate from Spain, and Spain used democracy to fight secessionists,” Bell said.
The former footballer then proceeded to a trial in good standing of a United Nations Organization that failed to carry out its peacekeeping missions. "The UN that is there to regulate relations between all states should remember that all these states have citizens who have their eyes open and who see that nowhere in the world where the United Nations has intervened have we really found the fullness of its peace and joy. If we honestly wanted peace in the world, there is a radical solution we never talk about. The UN would condemn all arms manufacturers. Weapons manufacturers would be converted back into pot manufacturers or whatever. There are so many other things to make. And in a world without weapons, I'm sure we would fight with bare hands, but there are very few boxers that die. There would be fewer deaths in this kind of situation,” he concluded.

SPORTS: Eto’o to Bring World’s Fastest Athlete to Cameroon

Cameroon’s football star Samuel Eto’o, took advantage of the match between France 98 and Fifa 98 to invite Jamaican star and world’s fastest athlete to Cameroon. The ace former skipper of the indomitable lions then proceeded to sharing the information on social networks.
On the sidelines of the clash between France 98 and Fifa 98, Samuel Eto'o had a good time with his friend Usain Bolt. Between laughs and memories, the stars did not miss topics of conversation. The two athletes know each other very well. A few years ago, Eto'o offered a watch of his brand to his Jamaican counterpart. Estimated value: 33,000 Euros. In addition, they are in contract with the same equipment manufacturer which is of course the German brand Puma. This belonging to the same brand makes them meet regularly for commercials and other events.
The reunion for this gala match was also an opportunity for Samuel Eto'o to invite the athlete to Cameroon. The former captain of the indomitable lions is well aware that such an initiative would bring a lot to his country. Next organizer of the Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon needs to redo its image to counter all the voices that still doubt her ability to take up the challenge.

SPORTS: Morocco loses fifth bid to host world cup

Africa’s last colonial power could not even secure the votes of the continent for the right to host the world’s most-watched sporting event in 2026.
Morocco has been left wondering whether its money or morality that’s made it a five-time loser in its bid to host the football World Cup.
Africa’s last colonial power could not even secure the votes of the continent for the right to host the world’s most-watched sporting event in 2026.
The joint bid of the United State, Canada and Mexico to host the 2026 World Cup promises to earn $11 billion for Fifa, that’s more than twice what Morocco could’ve hoped to score.
At best Morocco spends many times what it could afford to maintain its illegal occupation of Western Sahara.

Z
inedine Zidane says he is stepping down as Real Madrid boss, five days after leading them to a third straight Champions League triumph, claiming the club needs "a different voice".

He leaves having guided the Spanish club to three successive Champions League titles and one La Liga success since taking over in January 2016.
"I love this club," he added.
"What I think is that this team needs to continue winning but I think it needs a change, a different voice, another methodology. And that's why I took this decision."

MTN Pulls Out as Official Sponsor of Cameroon Professional Football League

The main sponsor of the Cameroon Football Championship has committed to pay a separation premium of 820 million CFA francs to the league, to be divided between the seasons 2018 and 2019.
The mobile phone company MTN has, once again, terminated its contract with the Professional Football League of Cameroon (LFPC). This contract, which was signed in May 2017, ran for three years, for an amount of three billion CFA francs, at the rate of one billion CFA francs per year.
In view of this unexpected break, the MTN Company has committed to pay a separation premium to the LFPC, according to journalducameroun.com. Thus, the operator will give a total of 820 million CFA francs, including 610 million CFA francs for the current 2018 season and 210 million CFA francs for the 2019 season.
For this purpose, the league will receive the first tranche of 610 million CFA francs due for the 2018 season, or 305 million 48 hours after the signing of the new addendum (probably next weekend).
The remaining $ 305 million will also be paid on May 10. In January 2019, MTN will insure the payment of the entire severance pay, i.e. 210 million CFA francs.
The separation premium paid by MTN is, however, matched by counterparties. The mobile operator will retain all its rights of images and display in 2018, but they will be reduced to 35% for the 2019 season. At that date, the logo of MTN will be present only on the sleeves of the jerseys. It is still noted that the names of the first and second division leagues will keep the name MTN Elite one and two until 2019.
Neither the MTN Company nor the league has had an official communication about this breach of contract.

The career of this Cameroonian soccer icon began as Goalkeeper and then central defender in the late 1960s with Santos of Okala, then D3 club of the Centre Region.
His talent prompted the leading clubs of the national division one championship of Cameroon to seek his services. He then agreed a contract with a club in Bafia, which had just been admitted to the first division at the end of the 1972/73 sports season.
Four years later, Onana Eloundou Elie joined Federal of Foumban, the legendary club of the Noun division in the West Region. It was here that the man fondly referred to as “Iron Hammer” built the most beautiful memory of his career crowned by a call up to national team for the World Cup Spain 1982 and a nickname "Panka", which is an honorific title of the Bamoun fondom.
At the height of his glory, he decided against all odds to leave Foumban for Canon of Yaoundé, the team with which he won a Cameroon Cup title in 1983 and a title of champions of Cameroon in 1985.
A season after having won with the indomitable Lions, CAN Abidjan 1984, “Panka” then ended his amateur football career in Santos of Yaoundé in the late 1980s.
