BAFOUSSAM, CAMEROON: Road Accident Kills 8

    Eight people are reported dead in a fatal road accident that occurred on Thursday August 25, 2016 in Bafounda village in Bafoussam, West Region of Cameroon. 

The tragic incident occurred at about 3pm as a truck belonging to Les Brasseries Du Cameroon reportedly crushed a taxi leaving all the eight passengers dead. 

Eyewitness says the horrific accident occurred at a sharp bend along the Bafoussam-Mbounda highway where the taxi in an attempt to overtake the truck got rammed with an oncoming lorry. In a attempt to dodge the approaching lorry, it crashed on the back tyre of the brasseries truck. 

Passersby together with fire fighters rushed to the scene but could not rescue any life. Seven of the victims died on the spot while the last died on the way to the hospital. 

The S.D.O for Bamboutos who was present at the scene blamed the accident on the part of the taxi because the taxi driver was carrying eight instead of five passengers.

The truck driver is under police custody while the corpses have been transported to the Bafoussam hospital mortuary
