South Region: 10 Killers, Eaters of Human beings Arrested in Ambam

According to Canal 2 International in its evening news of July 2, 2018, 10 alleged witches and wizards were arrested in the town of Ambam, in the South Region of Cameroon.
These individuals, the youngest aged 5 and the oldest 67 years old, were arrested last weekend. They are suspected of being the source of “mystical” diseases and deaths recorded in the district of Nsoze. According to our source, the arrest was made after victims had made complaints and investigations conducted. The head of the district, Jean-Claude Bitee, was the first authority alerted. “It's been a long time since I managed this file at the level of the chieftaincy. At my level, I tried to do everything to know these wizards. I was overwhelmed by this situation. I had to send this file to the level of the hierarchy, so to Divisional Office”, he said while speaking to Canal 2 international.

The suspects that were arrested and taken to the Ambam sub-prefecture have confessed. According to reports, they admitted to being the killers and eaters of people in that community. They said that most of their operations were carried out at night as they set out to kill and eat people.
A woman that was presented as a victim complained that her child was constantly cold and anemic and that this was due to the fault of a cat that is always in her home.
According to the woman, it is a human being that turns into a cat to suck the blood of the child. This same woman testified that she saw a child die “because of the same problems of blood loss”.
Ambam's Divisional Officer, Pierre-Marie Atangana, has reaffirmed his determination to fight against social evils such as witchcraft within his area of jurisdiction.
“This action is in line with the promises we made, the commitments we made as part of our outreach tour in this very sensitive unit in view of its border nature. We have lambasted the practices of witchcraft which are also forbidden by the penal code. So, we asked our traditional chiefs to report on these cases that jeopardize the future of youth in villages and society in general”.
The police in Ambam took over the case and have reportedly sent the file of the 10 alleged wizards to the town’s public prosecutor's office.
