Jeremiah Andosseh was found guilty of embezzlement of 11.9 billion FCFA.
The former Director General of the National Park of Civil Engineering (MATGENIE) has been handed a life jail by the Special Criminal Tribunal.
Jeremiah Andosseh was sentenced last February after he was found guilty of embezzling the sum of 11.9 billion FCFA from the company he once headed. According to La Nouvelle Expression that also reported the story, the verdict was pronounced unanimously by a panel of judges.
According to reports, the money he is accused of having embezzled got missing between 2014 and 2015 through the overbilling of spare parts of machines of the company, missing equipment as well as other forms of misappropriation.
We also gathered that the verdict was passed in the absence of the defendant for whom an arrest warrant has been issued. The court also signed a decision compelling the fugitive to return all the money misappropriated.For now, it remains unclear if Jeremiah Andosseh will serve the sentence since he is still on the run.
