Corpse of Newborn Baby Found in a Stream in Bamenda

Security forces in Bamenda have launched an investigation following the discovery of a lifeless body of a baby boy in a stream at the Miss Ngeng junction neighborhood in the Bamenda III sub division of the North West region.

The baby was found on Friday February 23, 2018 in the morning hours by residents of the said area.

Informed about the discovery of the child was the quarter head of New Layout quarter who responded by notifying security operatives about the shocking discovery.

Talking to TCR, Elias Nkwenti, the quarter head said, “I was home when a young man rushed in on top speed and told me that a dead baby had just been discovered in a stream and I immediately informed the police.

At the scene of the horrific discovery were elements of the Bamenda judicial police, elements of the army rescue unit and the state council for Mezam as well as a medical doctor. After examining the corpse, the medical expert revealed that the baby had just been given birth to not too a long ago before being dumped into the water.

It was not yet clear at press time who, might have dumped the baby into the water but a search for the mother had been launched. There are allegations that the baby might have been deposited into the said water by a runoff from the heavy rains that have been falling in Bamenda these days and especially last Thursday February 22, 2018.
