The Divisional Officer of Douala IV has carried out a crack down operation against the sale of illegal fuel commonly referred to as “fingue” in his area of jurisdiction.
According to sources, Jean-Marc Ekoa descended to the filed on Friday March 23, 2018 in Bonaberi for a check which many have described as “unannounced”.
He was accompanied in the mission by forces of law and order in the economic metropolis of Cameroon, Douala. TCR gathered that the operation was carried out on the instructions of the Joseph Bertrand, senior Divisional Officer for Wouri.
During the crackdown operation, the team led by the Divisional Officer succeeded to impound more than 1000 liters of the contraband fuel.
We gathered that administrative authority and his team strongly bamboozled vendors of this illegal product.
In addition to the impoundment of the contraband product, Jean-Marc Ekoa and his team also succeeded in tracing the supply line of the product.
A main supplier was reportedly uncovered in the Minkwele district and he was caught in the act, loading a cargo, we are told.
The chief supplier however succeeded to escape leaving behind a twenty-foot container. In the said container, the elements of the police and the gendarmerie found cans of 40 liters.
It should also be noted that the crackdown against “fingue” by forces of law and order in Bamenda, chief town of the Northwest region has been very intensive in the past months. Several persons have been rendered jobless as a result of the stiff anti-fingue campaign by security operatives.
