We have had reports that on Thursday, June 7, alleged separatists set fire on the home of the Mayor of Wabane in Lebialem division, Southwest region.
According to 237actu that also reported the story, the attack was perpetrated by separatists and took place in the absence of the occupants of this house. No human casualties or lost of lives were recorded in the mishap, but there are reports of huge material damage.
Even though no one has claimed responsibility for the arson attack, Anglophone separatists have been blamed given that there are reports that they have previously attacked homes of state authorities as well as security and defence forces.
According to locals, Lebialem has since become one of the hotbeds of violent confrontations between pro-separatist militias and the Cameroonian defense forces.
The separatists, who at the beginning of their cause were attacking the symbols of the state, have lately been targeting administrative authorities as well as security operatives.
As a reminder, on the night of March 18, the home of the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Planning, was set on fire in M'mockmbie in Lebialem by a group of unidentified individuals.
A few days later, on May 19, the Mayor of Bangem Eku Simon, was kidnapped as well as his collaborator by unidentified individuals.
