Star-Vibes: Cameroon’s Film Industry Wins Big during Awards in Ghana

The film industry in Cameroon was a talking point in Accra, Ghana Saturday June 2, 2018 during the 2018 Golden Movie Award. The industry amassed a total of 6 Awards won by just a single movie, “A Good Time to Divorce.”
Prolific movie superstar of Northwest extraction in Cameroon, Alenne Menget, floored the likes of Majid Michel, Mike Ezuronye and Ramsey Noah, to clinch the prestigious title of best Actor in Africa.
Alenne’s role as main actor in the movie, “A good Time to Divorce,” was unprecedented accompanied by launch of the movie in several States in the US.

The multi-talented Cameroonian actor, Alenne Menget, in an emotional discourse at the Award venue, dedicated the accolades to Cameroonians and expressed fervent wish that peace returns to this country whose foundation of unity is currently threatened.
A "Good Time to Divorce", captured the hearts of voters and Jury to sweep almost all categories, best Art Director, best Director, best Writer, best Actor, best Drama and overall best Movie.
This award comes just a year after another Cameroonian Series, Samba bagged home 3 awards last July.
The Series marshaled by Producer Brenda Shey Elung won the Best actress which went to Ade Kelly, Best Actor by Libota McDonald and Best TV Series.
This year’s triumph in Ghana is an indication that despite the scandals rocking the industry on daily basis, it is growing by lips and bounds.
Leaders of the actors’ guild of Cameroon such as Agbor Gilbert have often cited the fact that the movie industry in Cameroon gets little or no support from government as well as low level of promotion by local media, as the reason the industry has for long kept creeping.
