Cameroon: Newly Appointed Minister’s House Set on Fire

Sources in the Judicial Police Division (PJ) of the South-West Region report that the residence of the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT), Paul Tasong, was set on fire on the morning of 18 March, 2018.
“The Minister's residence in Mmockmbie, Lebialem division (Southwest Region) was set on fire. This residence had on Saturday 17 March, 2018 hosted a ceremony to thank the head of state for appointing him into the Government of March 2, 2018. The first elements of investigation reveal a criminal and terrorist act,” said our source.

It also indicates that at the time of the fire, the master of the house was absent. "Given the security situation in the area and the abduction of the board chairman of the GCE Board and students from Dschang University, the ceremony on Saturday was very brief and the minister left the village immediately,” she said.

Recently Commissioner to the Commission of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC), Paul Tasong Djoukang has won the confidence of the President of the Republic and was appointed Minister Delegate to MINEPAT during the cabinet reshuffle of March 2, 2018.
