Reports from Maroua in the Far North region say that truck pushers in the central market of that town have staged a protest march in resentment to an annual tax imposed on them.
The protest march happened on Wednesday March 21, 2018 and took them to the governor’s office where they expressed their total rejection and annoyance to the 22, 000 FCFA levied on them by the council.
They walked from the Maroua Central Market, through Avenue Kakatare to the Governor's office, blowing whistles of protest.
Truck pushers are very indispensable in most market in Cameroon and TCR gathered that their rage hugely affected both trades and customers who badly needed them to transport their goods either from markets to local destinations or vice versa.
At press time, we had yet to gather information about the outcome of their protest march to the governor’s office.
