There are reports that the company in charge of building the Garoua stadium has put a total of about five companies on the brink of bankruptcy given that it has not paid anything for insurance as well as some of its debts.
As the race against time is launched for the construction of infrastructure to host the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) tournament, another blow has been slammed on the face of Cameroon the host country.
TCR has learnt that the Court of First Instance of Yaoundé Administrative Center has just ordered the closure of the accounts of the company Prime Protomac in charge of the execution of works of CAN 2019 in the North region of Cameroon in Garoua, a newspaper called Le Financier d'Afrique of Monday, March 26, 2018 has reported.
This order, signed on March 3, authorizes Vinkengisch and Yaiyir Company (VAYCO) to close Prime Protomac's accounts to secure the payment of its debt, which is provisionally estimated at 194.5 million FCFA.
Well-informed sources indicate that the company did not pay anything for insurance, and that worse case scenario is the fact that it has refused to pay its debts, putting five companies on the brink of bankruptcy.
We also gathered that employees of the company have been demanding their salary arrears of several months now.
It must be said that the company that is headed by Ben Modo was already in conflict with the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) then headed by Tombi A Roko, who was dismissed by FIFA that set up the current normalization committee of FECAFOOT.
At the heart of the conflict, was the construction of small capacity stadiums with synthetic turfs in some localities of the country. This project until now remains unrealized, reported the newspaper.
Its contract with FECAFOOT was however terminated along the line but it still earned the trust of the government of Cameroon to be awarded the contract to build some infrastructure needed to host the 2019 continental football tournament.
