Hyppolite Nteudjeu, former head of operations at the Mvog-Mbi in Yaoundé of Afriland First Bank is incarcerated in the central prison of Yaoundé, as the bank has charged him for stealing money.
According to the French language weekly newspaper called Kalara of Monday March 26, 2018, the 80 million FCFA that is currently at the center of controversy was stolen through 12 operations of cash withdrawal from the ATMs of the said financial institution.
According to reports, on March 23rd, the hearing was devoted to the questioning of the witnesses of the public prosecutor, all employees within this establishment. In their statements against the incriminated, it appears that Hyppolite Nteudjeu was responsible for refilling ATMs of Mvog-Mbi agencies, Santa Lucia Mvan, and the Acroploe bakery, all in Yaoundé.
While giving her own testimony in court, Mrs. Pawa Wandji, chief cashier revealed that it was the accused that held the secret code that allows for the opening of the door of the engine room, reported Kalara newspaper.
She added that with Hyppolite Nteudjeu, they then proceeded to the evaluation of the unused tickets and reloaded the counters previously mentioned.
For his part, Hyppolite, has maintained to the Yaoundé High court that he is not guilty of the accusation levied against him.
According to the prosecution, the accused tried to proof that ATM machines are not reliable and that to support this assertion, he brandished a document that shows that the counter of Santa Lucia Mvan, were several times declared defective.
The prosecution however argued that these claims by the accused were not heavy enough given that surveillance cameras showed him (Hyppolite) committing the crime he is accused of on a Sunday, a day the bank shuts down its doors.
TCR gathered that the recordings of the said cameras on December 28, 2014, showed Hyppolite Nteudjeu coming out of the ATM room of Mvog-mbi. About five minutes after his entry and exit from this room, a large sum of money had been withdrawn from a distributor.
Following this, the former executive has been accused of being the author of twelve other withdrawal operations at the end of which the total sum of 80 million FCFA has been withdrawn. When the mater comes up in court again on April 27th for hearing, it will be time for images that incriminate Hyppolite Nteudjeu to be watched. Kalara
