Municipal Authority Goes Missing after Voting on Senatorial Elections Day

An online French language publication Journal ducameroun.com, has reported the disappearance of the Secretary General of the Nguti council.
According to this publication, the municipal authority has not been seen since voting closed last Sunday March 25, 2018 for the senatorial elections.
TCR gathered that it was in the course of the election that the Secretary General of Nguti council was last seen as he went missing after the exercise.
Reports say that since after voting closed on Sunday, the man has not reported in his office and that his family does not know anything about his whereabouts.
However, suspicions of abduction are rife amongst his relatives who at press time on Tuesday, were said to be in a state of fury and despair. They believe that the Secretary General of the council was abducted by strangers after the closure of the votes on Sunday.
According to a source at Nguti council, a ransom of 5 million CFA francs was required for the release of Obi John Ajiah but TCR cannot independently say if this piece of information is true or not as government had yet to make a statement in relation to this at press time Tuesday.
Nguti was one of the fiercest battle centers between Cameroonian security forces and separatist fighters who promised to disrupt the holding of senatorial elections in the locality.
It should also be recalled that fighters of secessionists had sounded a warning to councilors in the two English speaking regions of Cameroon. This accounts for the cases of abstention that were registered on the part of some of the councilors in the recent senatorial polls.
Meanwhile, prior to the elections, ELECAM officials had also announced sanctions for councilors that were going to boycott.
