A cross section of the populace of Ebolowa, chief town of the South region, has hit the streets to protest the killing of a hawker of the town by a law enforcement officer, TCR has gathered.
According to sources, the hawker whose name TCR got as Victor Obam Ndimi, picked up an argument with the said law enforcement officer who in the course of the wrangle, battered the hawker to death. Some opinions even hold that the uniform man used a gun on the hawker before his death.
This badly infuriated the people of Ebolowa who rallied as one man and staged a fierce protest against the cruel act of the uniform man. We learnt that they took to the streets chanting the national anthem of Cameroon and also set fire on places and including market sheds.
Ever since the mishap, forces of law and order have been trying to calm the irate population that is desperately demanding the head of the policeman that is currently on the wrong side of the law. They have promised that the sought after policeman will be arrested and jailed for investigations to be carried out on the tragedy.
According to sources, the irate population mostly protested for the fact that security operatives have fallen in love with the habit of taking laws into their own hands.
