A soldier was killed in an attack carried out around the locality of Furu Awa in Menchum division of the North West Region of Cameroon, local sources have said.
According to sources, the soldier was killed while on patrol with his colleague in the locality following an upsurge of violence in the region where security forces have been battling separatist fighters. The killing comes after a police officer was abducted in Fundong, still in the North West region and taken to an unknown destination as well as shortly before the abduction of a police commissioner of Muea in Buea, Southwest region.
The incident also shortly preceded that which happened in the Donga Mantung division in the Northwest region, where a policeman was mistakenly shot dead by elements of the rapid intervention battalion (B.I.R.).
TCR gathered that the B.I.R. elements mistook the patrolling policeman for an Ambazonia fighter and immediately fired gunshots at him.
