A seller of an adulterated fuel commonly referred to in the Northwest region as “Funge”, and “zoa-zoa” in the Northern region of the country, has died after the product caught fire.
According to reports, the incident occurred while the vendor attempted to dilute his product. This led to a serious inferno which caused him third degree burns and then his death.
TCR gathered that the Divisional Officer of Garoua 3, Francois Essomba, descended to the scene of the tragedy to gather first hand information.
It should be stated that the government of Cameroon has often clamped down on the sale of the adulterated fuel that is imported from neighbouring Nigeria.
Despite the frantic efforts of security operatives in Cameroon to end the “illegal” business, it seems to only be intensifying.
