There was serious tension in Mbouda in the West region of Cameroon as students of Government Bilingual High School Mbouda, took to the streets in demand for the restitution of the money collected from them by their school officials for holiday classes that did not hold.
According to sources, the sum of 3, 000 FCFA was collected from each of the students as payment for holiday classes during the Easter break, but which did not finally take place.
According to concordant sources, the school authorities announced the never held Easter holiday course just so to be able to cover the syllabuses, bearing in mind the fact that the third term of the academic year is very short.
The students contributed the money, but there were no holiday classes scheduled, and after waiting for this long, to have their money refunded in vain, they took to the streets last Thursday morning, to make their voices heard at all cost.
At press time on Friday, we had yet to receive information on how the protest march by students of Government Bilingual High School Mbouda, panned out.
