The over 140 Million residence of Victor Arrey Mengot, Minister of Special Duties at the Presidency of the Republic, has been gutted by flames set on it by yet to be identified persons.
According to sources, the fire incident occurred early Saturday June 2, 2018 in his native village Mbinjong, in Upper Bayang Subdivision, Manyu Division in the Southwest region of Cameroon.
TCR learnt that the main apartment of the compound was utterly reduced to ground level but for some pillars and the front view of the structure. Meanwhile, another smaller house near the main one was partially brought down.
Victor Arrey Mengot, is a bigwig of the ruling CPDM party from Manyu Division and member of the Central Committee of the same party.
In another mishap of conflagration, some shop owners in Mile 16, Buea Subdivision in the South West region were enmeshed in grief and consternation following the razing to ashes of over half a dozen shops in the area around the Okada Park.
According to sources, the inferno started at about 2:30am Saturday but the origin is yet to be established.
However, suspicions abound that the inferno might be linked to the ongoing stalemate in the two English speaking regions of Cameroon where fire mishaps have been recurrent since the impasse began.
In addition, the house of the former Member of Parliament for Ndu, Hon Tansah Jones, was visited by unidentified vandals on the night of Friday at about 11pm.
The thugs reportedly destroyed windows of his home as well as his vehicle parked outside.
