Sports: FECAFOOT to Have New President in August


Cameroon’s Football Federation (FECAFOOT) will have a new president in August 17, 2018. This pronouncement was made Thursday May 31st 2018, during a press conference in Yaoundé organized by the Normalization Committee of the Football Association (FA).
According to reports, many issues were discussed at the press conference amongst which were elections at FECAFOOT, the selection of a head coach for the country’s national football team, staff regulations, construction site of FECAFOOT’s head office, and the 2026 World Cup.

The five members of the FECAFOOT Normalization Committee (its President, Barrister Dieudonné Happi, the Vice-President, Barrister Marcelle Denise Ambono, Maurice Samuel Bellet Edimo, Dr. Abdou Oumerou and Kevin Njomo Kamdem), notably, spoke about the new texts which will lead to the electoral process, the recruitment of the new coach of Cameroon, the administrative and financial reform of the body they lead and the new headquarters of FECAFOOT.
About the elections
Barrister Dieudonne Happi, announced the chronogram of the adoption of the texts and the organization of the elections. The adoptive general assembly of the statutes and the electoral code of the FECAFOOT, is convened for June 23, 2018. Dr. Abdou Oumerou specified that only the clubs having participated at the same time in the championship of the seasons 2011/2012 and 2017/2018 (in progress) may participate in the electoral process.
Below is the said chronogram
- The adoption of the statutes of the divisional leagues is scheduled as from June 29 to July 1, 2018.
- The adoption of the bylaws of the Regional Leagues is scheduled as from July 8 to July 12, 2018.
- The filing and examination of candidatures, the publication of the official lists and the convening of the divisional elective assemblies are scheduled as from July 16 to July 24, 2018.
- The election in the regional leagues is scheduled as from July 25 to July 28, 2018.
- The filing and the examination of the candidatures, the publication of the official lists and convocation of the regional elective general assembly are envisaged on August 3rd, 2018.
- The election in regional leagues is scheduled as from August 04 to August 09, 2018
- The filing and examination of applications, publication of the official lists and convocation of the Federal Elective General Assembly on August 17, 2018.
- The federal election will take place from August 27 to 30, 2018.
- If all goes as planned, the transfer of service between the elected executive and the Normalization Committee shall hold on August 31, 2018.
The Vice President of the Normalisation Committee of FECAFOOT, who is also President of the Commission for the Reorganization of the Cameroon Football Authority, Barrister Marcelle Denise Ambono, said he was working to improve on the working conditions of employers who, for some do not have employment contracts, but only letters of commitment. He deplored the fact that there were FECAFOOT trainees with vague status, “since they have been there for years for some”. According to her, very few of the employees are affiliated with the National Social Insurance Fund (CNPS).
2026 World Cup
It should be sated that the chairman of the Normalization Committee affirmed Cameroon's support for Morocco's candidacy for the organization of the 2026 World Cup. He reaffirmed the bonds of friendship that unite President Paul Biya and King Mohammed VI of Morocco. This support, he said, will strengthen the bonds of friendship between the Cameroon Football Federation and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
