The President of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, Professor Maurice Kamto, has in a meeting with young Cameroonians and the press in Douala, x-rayed some of the plights that have hit Cameroon lately.
In the meeting that held in one of the hotels of Cameroon’s economic metropolis last Saturday, the current Anglophone crisis was one of the prioritised subjects.
While scrutinising the armada of problems, the leader of the opposition party also unmasked his plan of action.
He expressed worries over the fact that, the electoral code does not guarantee a sincere and credible political game in Cameroon.
In reaction to the recent hype over Cameroon’s state of preparedness ahead of the CAN 2019, Professor Kamto said « Cameroon is to blame for lagging behind in the construction of infrastructure for this competition ».
He added that, this is however not a surprise to him as he argued that, the current governance is briddled with untold inertia.
About the current Anglophone crisis, the Law Professor dwelled so much on that and regretted so many things amongst which he said is the enormous time lost in trying to contain the crisis but failing to get positive results in the end.
In particular, he criticized the arbitrary arrests and trial of citizens in relation to the crisis and also joined many other voices before, to call for the unconditional release of all detained in connection with the long lasted crisis, as a means of abeiting the situation.
He also blamed government for getting bad solutions to problems that he termed real. According to Professor Kamto, the only way to resolve the crisis, is to create a commission made of credible people in the eyes of the populations.
He then continued by doing some politcking as he lay bare, his political plans for the country vis-a-vis the upcoming presidential elections.
Maurice Kamto said that, one of his priorities will be, to overhaul the education system of Cameroon which to him, « does not longer match the needs of our times ».
