Released GCE Ordinary Level Results Records “Shameful” Success Rate

Results of the 2017 General Certificate of Education Ordinary Levels, have been finally released, after an unusual delay.

Reports say this year’s result is a total blend of shame and disaster, to bring out the most catastrophic result ever registered in the history of the examination.
Statistics says out of 80,212 who registered,  46, 532 sat the exams and 11,770 passed with a percentage pass of 25.29% as against last year where 110702 registered 102,857 sat the exams and 63,951 passed making a percentage pass of 62,17%.

The results come out 4 days, after the Minister of Secondary Education announced its release.

It is worth noting that, there was a heavy boycott of the exams in most of the English speaking regions of Cameroon as a teachers’ strike action, crippled the education sector of the two regions.

Even those who braved the odds to sit the exams, did so in an atmosphere of panic as threats from unknown sources, scared almost everyone despite government’s assurance of security for all.
