The promoter of one of Bamenda’s oldest radio stations Afrique Nouvelle, has been released after spending a night in incarceration.
According to sources, Daniel Fouozong, was arrested in the late hours of Sunday by security operatives and remanded in custody.
He was however freed on Monday after spending a night in detention.
TCR learnt at press time that, there had been no clear cut reason for his arrest yet, though allegations abounded that it could be related to the ongoing unrest in the two English speaking regions of Cameroon.
Other opinion holders think that Daniel Fouozong’s arrest is not in connection with the crisis but could be for personal issues.
Ever since the ongoing crisis broke out, journalists especially those in the concerned regions, have been feeling the jitters especially after several of them have been arrested and remanded in custody in relation to the crisis.
Recall that one of Bamenda based journalists, Akumbom Elvis MCcarthy, is currently in detention for reasons related to the proverbial crisis.
