Reports say that a young man in his thirties is suspected to have raped no less than 15 girls aged between 10 and 11 years in Douala, a city often described as the land of the good, the bad and the ugly.
There is total bewilderment in the neighbourhood of this city where the outrageous incident is said to have happened as locals find it hard to believe that a man is capable of committing such abominable acts.
The thug has been arrested and remanded in custody at an incarceration facility at Bonamoussadi, in the Douala 5 municipality.
According to the families of the alleged victims, the abuse lasted since 2012. To attract his victims, the alleged rapist, offered sweets and biscuits to them.
Once his dirty work was over, the rapist threatened to kill his victims should they tell on him.
An investigation has been opened and if the suspected rapist is found guilty, he might be handed a prison term of 5 and 10 years.
Residents of the neighbourhood of the crime are still wondering how and why a man should abuse teenagers to such extent. While some persons simply think that he could be a man with insatiable libido, others suspect occult to be at the center of his motive.
