The manager of a business enterprise in Ebolowa, chief town of the South region of Cameroon has beaten a young man said to be 20 years old and mentally retarded to death, for stealing a loaf of bread from his store.
According to sources, Emmanuel Joe Stéphane Bengono, was lynched mercilessly at the site where the theft was carried out.
We also learnt that the deranged boy was killed four days to his 21st birthday.
Reports said that the entire population of Ebolowa was totally bamboozled at the reaction of Patrick Okalia, the manager of the store from where the boy stole.
The murderer is currently at the Ebolowa Central prison where he is pondering over his fate as he is accused of intentional homicide. Meanwhile, the victim was buried on June 23 in the Bilone district of Ebolowa.
A cross section of the population of Ebolowa is still very annoyed at the reaction of Patrick especially given that the victim was not mentally stable.
