A serious burglary has been reported in the council of Foumban, chief town of the Noun division in the West region of Cameroon.
According to reports, the thieves broke into the council building during the night of March 22, breaking March 23, 2018. They ransacked the offices of the building after neutralizing and brutalizing the guard on duty.
TCR gathered that the hoodlums concentrated efforts on the revenue collection offices of the council as they were allegedly looking for money and other valuables.
At the end of their operation, they reportedly left with little cash and a huge amount of stamps which the first deputy mayor estimates at 20 million FCFA.
According to reports, a probe has been launched into the thievery with the aim of tracking down its perpetrators.
TCR learnt that this robbery occurs at a time when Foumban and its environs, is experiencing a surge in crime rate. The most aching of the activities of the men of the underworld remains the assassination in cold blood of the principal of Government Bilingual High School Foumban, Charles Etoundi, who was killed, at his home on the night of 22 breaking 23 September 2017.However, police have been able to get hold of perpetrators of crimes in the Noun division of late and have been able to convince the population that this surging phenomenon could be near extinction.
